Meiostec represents Mediabox in Portugal and in Portuguese Speaking Countries: a Media Management System developed by XTream (Vitelsa Group), that automates the capture, digialization, catalogation, consultation and exchange of content and multimedia files (video, audio, electronic documents) from different sources and different formats.
The traditional production process of video tapes is inefficient and becomes more difficult and costly with the organization's growth.
Major broadcasters create thousands of hours of video tapes every month. The costs of tape duplication, distribution, storage, search and recovery exceed €millions/year for large companies.
Many tapes are lost or disappear in the production environment. There are several solutions trying to solve this problem, but the workflow remains complicated and non-intuitive. Integration and implementation are difficult.
There was no standard satisfactory solution so far!
MEDIABOX
MediaBox is a solution oriented to the research, capture, acquisition and exchange of content, as well as to the Documentation and Digital Archive. The system has several capture stations, a central storage server and one or more stations from anywhere with access to Intranet.
This solution allows to work in multi-channel, since each capture station collects the signal from one video channel and its associated audio, sending it to a storage server. In this server is the information received from different sources and is allowed the remote access to customers, that in accordance to their profile, can perform tasks as Consultation, Catalogation, Selection and Download of content.
The MediaBox System includes the following modules: System Administration, Templates Generation, Preparation, Capture, Cataloging, Consulting, Transcription, Selection, Download and Web Access.
Multimedia Content Life Cycle
• Capture of information from different sources, for the conversion of computer files that enable its manipulation through software and coding tools:
- Image: cameras, DVDs, videos, television, among others;
- Sound: Compact Discs, among others;

- Paper documents: scanning, among others.
• Processing, which allows:
- Fix / improve the information received;
- Select;
- Sort.
• Archive, through management tools that allow an accurate documentation of information and facilitate the search.
• Presentation of information, through various alternatives available by current technology:

Success Stories
Autonomic TV Canaria - Videoreport
Canarias Videoreport has began its operations on July 1, 2008 with daily programming from its two new production centers in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas. The advanced technology used made it possible to implement the project in record time. Currently, each production center is equipped with a Mediabox Digital System, which allows addressing the future of content distribution through alternative channels such as HDTV (high definition television), IPTV (television via fiber optical) or mobile television.
Korpa Agency
Korpa Agency has a Mediabox system for contents search and documentation from various newsrooms, which allows an easy management of content and its almost immediate availability at the headquarters in Madrid. Thanks to the integration with the editing system, publishers process the contents and catalog them with metadata, video in high and low resolution for its electronic distribution to media clients.
City of Culture (Galicia)
The City of Culture of Galicia will have an integrated TV network on high speed IP network that covers all their buildings. This network will feed the various fixed and mobile devices (televisions, computers and mobile terminals IP) distributed throughout the complex. The architecture of the project involves a process of integration of different solutions in audiovisual equipment, which will allow the City of Culture can offer services of high variety.
Assembly of the Republic
The Assembly of the Portuguese Republic has implemented an innovative digital recording system based on the Mediabox, which will allow the elaboration of the Journal of the Assembly of the Republic (DAR), the recording and transcription of meetings and the availability of an online archive with consultation on the new Web environment system is fully automated and guarantees the performance, reliability, high availability and scalability required.
